Gabriella Plant Shop will host an event that combines gardening and painting. From 7-9 p.m. Friday, May 6 at 5420 Deep Lake Road in Oviedo, participants will learn about a specific plant from the shop’s head grower and then paint that plant. Participants are encouraged to bring their favorite drink. The cost is $15 and includes the plant and the painting. Learn more

Catch a stage play based on Larry Kramer’s life experiences as a gay activist, enraged at the public and private indifference to the AIDS plague. Saturday

Live music and more than 60 local vendors will be at the Oviedo Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7 at the Lawton House, 200 W. Broadway Street in Oviedo. Vendors will be selling a wide variety of items, including fruits, vegetables, plants, honey, grass-fed beef, locally roasted coffee, bread, sweets, sauces, spices, paintings, jewelry and home decor. There will also be ready-to-eat food and nonprofit organizations. Pets are welcomed. Tours of the Lawton House are available during market hours. Learn more

Children can learn to fish from the City of Winter Springs’ Parks and Recreation team at Fish Winter Springs, happening from 8-10 a.m. Saturday, May 7 and May 14 at Central Winds Park, 1000 Central Winds Dr. Registration is for children aged 5-12, who should be accompanied by an adult. The cost is $10 for Winter Springs residents and $15 for non-residents and includes the fishing pole. Learn more

The City of Oviedo’s annual Arbor Day Tree Giveaway is from 8:30-11 a.m. Saturday, May 7 at 400 Alexandria Blvd. in Oviedo. There is a limit of two trees per residential address and the giveaway is on a first-come, first-served basis. The tree selection includes red maple, live oak, sweetgum, dahoon holly and crape myrtle. Learn more.

Oviedo’s Bacon, Bourbon & Blues festival is from 1-9 p.m. Saturday, May 7 at the Oviedo Cultural Center, 357 Center Lake Lane in Oviedo. There will be food, whiskey and bourbon samples, as well as nonalcoholic options, and live music by Michael Allman. The event is for ages 21 and older. The cost of tickets ranges from $35-$45.
