A “Mean Girls” musical, Paul McCartney covers and more

Fall and Halloween events ramp up as we get closer to the end of October. Plus there are plenty of other events, including a “Mean Girls” musical. Get out and celebrate this weekend!

Take part in a local event near you this week and next week in Greater Oviedo and Winter Springs, including a “Mean Girls” musical, a tequila tasting, live music, a fall festival and painting sessions.

Thursday

Mean Girls will be performed at Hagerty High School

Catch a “fetch” performance of Hagerty High School’s fall musical “Mean Girls” at 7 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 19-21, at the Hagerty High School Auditorium, 3225 Lockwood Blvd. in Oviedo. Regular admission costs $13, and VIP seating costs $15. Online sales will close 30 minutes after the show begins. This show contains mature content. Learn more

Come out and support Oviedo High School’s varsity girls’ volleyball team as they compete in the district finals at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, at the Robert W. Lundquist Gymnasium, 601 King St. in Oviedo. Tickets are $8. Learn more.

The Black Hammock hosts events throughout the fall

Attention motorcycle riders! Ride the roads of Oviedo for Bike Hammock Fest this weekend. Check-in starts every morning at 11 a.m. Thursday-Sunday, Oct. 19-22. at  Black Hammock Adventures and Airboat Rides, 2356 Black Hammock Fish Camp Road in Oviedo. Celebrate the beginning of the fall season with the Fall Harvest Festival from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19 at Savoy Gracious Retirement Living, 80 Michael Blake Blvd. in Winter Springs. Take a self defense class, hosted by Love Doesn’t Hurt Inc., to learn moves that will protect you and your family, from 7:15-8:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20 at Master Roberts World Class Taekwondo, 980 Oviedo Blvd., Suite 1008, in Oviedo. The event is free but there’s a suggested donation of $10 per person or $20 per family. This event is for ages 12 and older. Learn more

Add an artistic flare to your pumpkins this Halloween at Pumpkin Pouring at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20 at Calliope Street, 1670 Oviedo Mall Blvd. in Oviedo. Attendees will pour paint onto pumpkins to create artistic designs. Cost to attend is $40 for adults 18 and older, $32 for children 13-17 years old and $30 for children 8-12 years old. Learn more.

Enjoy a fall flea market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21 at Lutheran Haven, 2041 W. State Road 426 in Oviedo. Shop for clothing, appliances, artwork, collectibles, antiques, electronics, jewelry, linens, bicycles, holiday items, games, toys, books, plants, baked goods and more. There will be food and drinks. Take part in four rounds of live pub-style trivia with the Five Minute Professor from 7-9 p.m. every Monday at Rock & Brews, 7131 Red Bug Lake Road in Oviedo. Questions cover topics such as history, geography, pop music, TV shows, science, nature, movie stars and space travel. Prizes are given every week, and a raffle takes place the last Monday of every month. Enjoy happy hour before and after trivia.

Foster healthy living habits and youth development with Homeschool Physical Education for kids ages 5-17 from 3-4 p.m. every Monday through until Nov. 27 at the YMCA Family Center, 7900 Red Bug Lake Road in Oviedo. Run through Oviedo’s historic downtown every Tuesday night with Oviedo Run Club. Most folks who attend this casual, social run start the run just before 6 p.m. Participants start in the parking lot of Oviedo’s Historic Celery Pre-cooler, located at 159 N. Central Ave. and run the distance of their choice along the Cross Seminole Trail. New members get a free T-shirt. Learn more

Join Oviedo Brewing Run Club’s Tuesday night run from 6:30-10 p.m. at 1280 Oviedo Mall Blvd. Participants gather at the front of Oviedo Brewing Company every Tuesday evening and start the run at 6:30 p.m.

Adventure Cycling offers two night bicycle rides a week. Enjoy a No Rider Left Behind ride for the whole family from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Tuesday nights. Learn more
