First night of Hanukkah, breakfast with Santa, bingo night and more

It’s not too late to see Santa in Oviedo, and a slew of other holiday events abound.

The holiday season is here! Check out the many themed events in your town this week and beyond, including a DIY Christmas decor workshop, a sensory-friendly Christmas photo session with Santa and Oviedo’s Winterfest.

Thursday 

Celebrate the first night of Hanukkah with Green Acres Farms of Oviedo/Geneva from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7 at 1700 Marsh St. This event is open to people of all religious backgrounds and is free to attend. Attendees are encouraged to bring food to share. Learn more.

Deck the halls this holiday season with Bomb Blooms’ succulent Christmas Tree design class at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7 at Spill Wine Bar, 1196 Tree Swallow Drive in Winter Springs. The cost to attend ranges from $135-$165. Learn more.

Celebrate National Brownie Day with a free brownie from Stacked Brownies on Friday, Dec. 8 at 87 Geneva Drive in Oviedo. Learn more

Drive through the Christmas festivities at Light Up Central Winds from 7-9 p.m. Dec. 8, 9, 10, 15 and 17 at Central Winds Park, 1000 Central Winds Drive in Winter Springs. Motorists are encouraged to enter the event through Tuskawilla Drive. A special walk-through night will be hosted Saturday, Dec. 16. Learn more.

Cheer on the Oviedo High School Lions’ varsity boys’ basketball team as they take on Lyman High School at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8 at Oviedo Oviedo High School, 601 King St. Learn more.

Car enthusiasts can check out other peoples’ rides and show off their own at Oviedo Cars & Coffee from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Dec. 8 at Rock & Brews Oviedo, 7131 Red Bug Lake Road. This event is open to cars of all years, makes and models. There will be a free cup of coffee at the entrance for those in attendance. Learn more.

Whether or not you think “Die Hard” is a Christmas movie, there will be a special showing of the 1988 movie with various showtimes from 12:10 – 10 p.m. Dec. 8-14 at Regal Cinemas, 1700 Oviedo Mall Blvd. Tickets cost $14.01 for general admission. This movie is rated R. Learn more.  

Saturday 

Enjoy breakfast with Santa from 8-11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9 at Oviedo High School, 601 King St. There will be unlimited eggs, sausage and pancakes as well as free digital portraits with Santa. The cost to attend is $10 and children 10 years old and younger are free with a paying adult. All proceeds support Oviedo High School’s journalism courses. Learn more.

Support Winter Springs Veterans of Foreign Wars Post at their second annual car show from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday Dec. 9 at Winter Springs VFW Post 5405, 420 N. Edgemon Ave. This show is open to all makes and models with a capacity of 45 cars to show which will be entered to win trophies. The cost to show your car is in the form of a donation to Winter Springs VFW Post 5405. Learn more.

Come out to “Christmas Bingo Night!” with the Oviedo Woman’s Club for a night of fun, drinks and food from 5-8 p.m. Saturday Dec. 9 at Oviedo Woman’s Club, 414 King St.. This event is to support She Is More Than, a local nonprofit that is dedicated to fighting human trafficking and its victims. Tickets cost $10-$60. Learn more.

Join the City of Oviedo for Winterfest from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9 at Center Lake Park, 299 Center Lake Lane. Activities include a bounce house, face painting, holiday train and more. The cost to attend is $25. Learn more.

Enjoy a night of lights, snow, a DJ, goodies, food from local restaurants and hot coffee and cocoa at Boys Town Central Florida’s Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Festival at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9 at 975 Oklahoma St. in Oviedo. Get pictures with Santa in a sensory friendly setting from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Sunday Dec. 10 at the Oviedo Mall, 1700 Oviedo Mall Blvd. There are a variety of packages to purchase that include digital and print photos, which cost $39.99-$49.99. Learn more

Enjoy a fun night of painting Snoopy and Woodstock from 5-8 p.m. Sunday Dec. 10 at Calliope Street, 1400 Oviedo Mall Blvd. The cost to participate is $35 for adults, $27 for young artists ages 13-17, and $25 for kids ages 8-12. Participants must reserve a spot to attend. Learn more

Celebrate the Christmas season at Grant Chapel AME Church’s Christmas Extravaganza at 5 p.m. Sunday Dec. 17 at Grant Chapel AME Church, 387 E. Franklin St. in Oviedo. There will be live performances from Southern Sons of Soul, Voices of Triumph, Tyquarious Turner and more.  Learn more.

Celebrate the Hanukkah spirit with Chabad of Oviedo-Winter Springs at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12 at Oviedo on the Park, 401 Center Lake Lane. There will be stilt walkers, a fire show, fresh doughnuts and the Grand Menorah Lighting. This event is free but attendees need to RSVP. Donations are being accepted. Learn more.

For Friendsgiving, why not take part in four rounds of live pub-style trivia with the Five Minute Professor from 7-9 p.m. every Monday at Rock & Brews, 7131 Red Bug Lake Road in Oviedo. Questions cover topics such as history, geography, pop music, TV shows, science, nature, movie stars and space travel. Prizes are given every week, and a raffle takes place the last Monday of every month. Enjoy happy hour before and after trivia.

The above pub-style trivia with the Five Minute Professor also takes place from 7-9 p.m. every Wednesday at Gators Dockside, 167 E. Mitchell Hammock Road in Oviedo. Prizes are given every week, and a raffle takes place the last Wednesday of every month. Enjoy all you can eat boneless wings special on Wednesday.    

Dementia-Friendly Dining is every Tuesday from 2-5 p.m. at Perkins Restaurant, 701 E. State Road 434 in Winter Springs; every Wednesday from 2-5 p.m. at the Town House Restaurant, 139 N. Central Ave. in Oviedo and every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 p.m. at Pepe’s Cantina, 3100 Alafaya Trail. in Oviedo. Families and friends may bring their loved ones who are living with dementia to a friendly, safe, and enjoyable meal. Learn more.

Take a break from fall events with a run through Oviedo’s historic downtown every Tuesday night with Oviedo Run Club. Most folks who attend this casual, social run start the run just before 6 p.m. Participants start in the parking lot of Oviedo’s Historic Celery Pre-cooler, located at 159 N. Central Ave. and run the distance of their choice along the Cross Seminole Trail. New members get a free T-shirt. Learn more

Join Oviedo Brewing Run Club’s Tuesday night run from 6:30-10 p.m. at 1280 Oviedo Mall Blvd. Participants gather at the front of Oviedo Brewing Company every Tuesday evening and start the run at 6:30 p.m.

Adventure Cycling offers two night bicycle rides a week. Enjoy a No Rider Left Behind ride for the whole family from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Tuesday nights. Learn more
