Winter Springs 911 moved to county

The last city in Seminole County to operate its own 911 dispatch center will soon no longer do so. The Winter Springs City Commission voted unanimously on Aug. 9 to have Seminole County handle the city’s emergency dispatching with an expected start in late September.

“Will there be any change to the way in which our Winter Springs police officers handle calls in the city?” Commissioner Kevin Cannon asked.

“Absolutely none,” Winter Springs Police Chief Chris Deisler said.

All of the city’s dispatchers are expected to be retained by Seminole County.
