Remember and honor veterans at Oviedo Cemetery’s Wreaths Across America event at noon on Saturday, Dec. 18 at Oviedo Cemetery, 118 Aulin Ave. in Oviedo. Wreaths will be laid at each veterans’ grave and their names will be read aloud. Get more information.

A Very Diva Christmas Concert is at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18 at the Oviedo Cultural Center, 357 Center Lake Lane, Oviedo. This classic Christmas musical concert features The Holiday Divas singing holiday hits. Seating is first come, first serve. Ticket prices range from $15-$80 and can be purchased here. Make Christmas ornaments and visit with farm animals at Craft for a Cause, happening  from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19 at Green Acres Farm of Oviedo, 700 Marsh Street, Oviedo. Half of all donations from the event will be donated to a local family to help them adopt their foster child. Get more information.

The Oviedo Masonic Lodge is collecting toys that will be delivered to children staying in Advent Health for Children on Christmas morning. She has served as an award-winning community journalist for more than 20 years, including as associate editor for the East Orlando Sun and a reporter for the Seminole Voice, the Winter Park-Maitland Observer and Orlando Magazine.
In 2024, Megan was named Editor of the Year by the Society for Professional Journalism. With the Central Florida Foundation and Central Florida Public Media, she co-found the News Collaborative of Central Florida, a collective of independent local news outlets and aligned partners working toward a more informed and engaged Central Florida.
She served as treasurer for the Florida Press Club for seven years and has won awards from the Institute for Nonprofit News, the Florida Press Association and the Society of Professional Journalism. Megan holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism (now called the Reed College of Media) at West Virginia University.

Megan also loves yoga, running and playing board games with her family.
