Thursday

Play the retro version of Yu-Gi-Oh from 7-10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5 at Versus Games, 1320 Oviedo Mall Blvd. in Oviedo. Yu-Gi-Oh is a trading card game with monsters, spells and traps. Learn more.

Take a plant class at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5 at Gabriella Plants Shop, 5420 Deep Lake Road in Oviedo. The shop’s head grower will teach all about the different types of modified stems, leaves and roots, such as thorns, stems, prickles, corms and bulbs, and their purposes. Learn more.

Perfect Pours will host a First Friday Market from 6-10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6 at 855 E. State Road 434, Suite 1137, in Winter Springs. Enjoy a brew while you shop local vendors, craft items, and food. Learn more

Join a full moon cacao ceremony from 7:30-8:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6 at Red Sun Yoga, 5965 Red Bug Lake Road in Winter Springs. The class is a breath-and-sound-healing experience and costs $40 for members and $45 for nonmembers. Learn more

Saturday 

Shop local vendors selling items including live plants, fresh produce, arts and crafts and ready-to-eat food from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7 at the Oviedo Farmers Market at the T.W. Lawton House, 200 W. Broadway Street in Oviedo. The historic T.W. Lawton House will be open for tours during the event. Learn more

Join other cyclists for Adventure Cycling’s Breakfast Ride at 8 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7 at 1491 E. State Road 434 in Winter Springs. The group will ride to Big Tree Park and back for a total of 20 miles. There’s also an 8-mile option. All ages and experience levels are welcome. Learn more

Join a bowling tournament at 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 8 at Oviedo Bowling Center, 376 E. Broadway Street in Oviedo. The cost is $135 per team or $45 a player. Learn more

Get a taste for Scottish food and culture at the Scottish Highland Games at 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14 and 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15 at Central Winds Park, 100 Central Winds Drive, in Winter Springs. Nearly 100 Scottish clans and societies will be represented. Enjoy men’s and women’s athletics, Highland dancing, Celtic rock, traditional Scottish music, a bag pipe band competition, a Parade of Tartans, merchandise and food vendors, a kids games area, a petting area with border collies, herding sheep and Highland cows, archery, ax throwing and more. The City of Oviedo’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day event is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, starting with a parade that will begin at Oviedo High School, 601 King Street in Oviedo, and end with a celebration at Round Lake Park, 699 Louise Street in Oviedo. There will be DJs, vendors, food trucks and 3-on-3 basketball at the park. Wristbands cost $3 each or 2 for $5. Learn more
