Briefs—Oviedo City Council approves Lockwood Boulevard traffic study, Dwell at Oviedo apartments design

There could be a roundabout at the intersection of Old Lockwood Road and Lockwood Boulevard, if a study approved by the Oviedo City Council determines it’s necessary.

The study, approved on Monday Night, will focus on 1.8 miles of Lockwood Boulevard, from Old Lockwood Road to Mitchell Hammock Road.

An updated 2025 Transportation Master Plan was approved in 2014, which included the possible roundabout intersection. The study will also consider other roadway solutions to that stretch of road. The original Transportation Master Plan was approved in 2009.

“Old Lockwood Road is getting really built up to the point where you can’t even make a left there,” said Council Member Keith Britton. “This has been on the Master Plan for quite a while.”

The study could take up to a year to complete and will cost $150,000.

The Oviedo City Council approved the architectural design for Dwell at Oviedo, a four-building, 300-unit apartment complex planned for 14 acres on the northwest corner of Oviedo Mall Boulevard and West Broadway Street.

This project has not broken ground and the Philadelphia-based developer, The Klein Company, said it’s too soon to provide a timeline for the project.
