Oviedo, FL.
Mrs. Willie Pearl Hamilton, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother, and friend to many, transitioned to eternal rest in her 100th year of life on the morning of Monday, Sept. 2 at her home at 53 Lindsay Lane in Oviedo.
Born in Clayton, Ala., on Oct. 3, 1923, to the late Jerry and Gussie Neal Cox, she was raised in Louisville, Ala., before moving to Oviedo in 1953 with her husband, George Hamilton. In 1955, their daughter, Ida, joined them in Oviedo.
Through her vocation as a domestic worker, Mrs. Hamilton earned the trust and respect of many friends of all races. Having accepted Christ at an early age, she diligently served the Lord and worked for the upbuilding of His Kingdom from that time until God called her home. She was a dedicated servant of the Lord, faithfully serving in many capacities and as a member of Fountain Head Missionary Baptist Church, Grant Chapel AME, and Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.
As the matriarch of her family, Mrs. Hamilton nurtured and cared for those dearest to her heart – her family. She always had a listening ear, imparted powerful wisdom, spoke with heartfelt honesty, and showed unwavering love. Her home and heart were places of peace, love, support, and legendary home-cooked meals.
Mrs. Hamilton was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Gussie Neal Cox, her husband, George Hamilton, her siblings, Estelle Kelly and Dorothy Pittman, and her son-in-law, Russell W. Boston.
She leaves in God’s care her beloved daughter, Ida Pearl Smith-Boston; granddaughter, Debra Boston-Brundidge (Clennie); grandsons, Jeffrey Boston, Angelo Boston; seven great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She also leaves behind a special “heartfelt” granddaughter, Dr. Angela Adams, and a “heartfelt” son, General Smith and a bonus sister and best friend, Ophelia Moore.
Visitation will take place on Sept. 14 from 10- 11 a.m. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 311 E. Broadway St. in Oviedo. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 11 a.m., with interment afterward at Boston Cemetery.
