Join The Oviedo Preservation Project in dedicating a historical marker at the Wheeler-Evans House at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 6 at 340 S. Lake Jessup Ave. Folks are invited to join a group in a walk from the Oviedo Farmers Market to the Wheeler-Evans House for the dedication at 9:40 a.m., sharp. The house is one of three buildings within Oviedo’s city limits that is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Learn more

Celebrate National Nurses Day starting at noon Saturday, May 6 at Rock & Brews Oviedo, 7131 Red Bug Lake Road. There will be a catering raffle for nurses only and nurses can enjoy a free meal with their ID badge. Learn more

Enjoy live music with Michael Allman while tasting bourbon and food pairings. This event is for folks ages 21 and up and tickets must be purchased by Friday, May 5. Learn more.

Future Events 

Dance the night away at the 5th Grade Prom from 6-9 p.m. Friday, May 12 at the Oviedo Cultural Center, 357 Center Lake Lane in Oviedo. Tickets cost $25 and include food, chips and a drink. Each child will be verified with their school, teacher and birthday. Tickets must be purchased in advance and cannot be purchased at the door. Learn more

Bring a green thumb to the City of Oviedo’s Arbor Day Tree Giveaway starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 13 at City Hall, 400 Alexandria Blvd. Residents of Oviedo will be given two trees per household while enjoying vendors providing environmental education, coffee, donuts and more. Learn more

Bring gently used items to Antioch Missionary Baptist Church’s Fill the Truck event from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, May 13 at 311 E. Broadway St. in Oviedo. The event will benefit The Sharing Center, a charitable organization that helps those experiencing poverty or homelessness. Learn more

Celebrate mom with a Mother’s Day Painting event for teens and adults, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, May 14 at Songbirds Music, Art, & Dance Center, E. Mitchell Hammock Road in Oviedo. Registration costs $25. Learn more

Register for Camp Sunshine with the City of Winter Springs, running each week from May 30 through July 28. The cost per week is $125 for residents and $210 for non-residents. Registration is first come, first served and will be capped at 65 campers. All fees must be paid by June 3. Learn more.

Dementia-Friendly Dining is every Tuesday from 2-5 p.m. at Perkins Restaurant, 701 E. State Road 434 in Winter Springs and every Wednesday from 2-5 p.m. at the Town House Restaurant, 139 N. Central Ave. in Oviedo. Families and friends may bring their loved ones who are living with dementia to a friendly, safe, and enjoyable meal. Learn more

Enjoy yoga outdoors at 9 a.m. every Wednesday at the Canterbury Retreat and Conference Center, 1601 Alafaya Trail in Oviedo. The drop-in cost is $10 per person. Learn more

Run through Oviedo’s historic downtown every Tuesday night with the Oviedo Run Club. Most folks who attend this casual, social run start the run just before 6 p.m. Participants start in the parking lot of Oviedo’s Historic Celery Pre-cooler, located at 159 N.
