Oviedo Mayor Megan Sladek has two challengers for her seat, which is up for election this November.
Brady Duke and Judith Dolores Smith are running against the incumbent. Natalie Teuchert, who won the Group 1 seat on the Oviedo City Council two years ago when she challenged then-incumbent Smith, is running unopposed.
There will be two referendums on the Oviedo ballot for this election. The first will ask voters whether they support the City of Oviedo borrowing $47 million for a new public safety building, which would mean residents would be billed for the project for the next 30 years. Find more about that here. The second one will ask voters whether certain businesses should get a tax break.
A new Florida law wiped out past vote-by-mail voters’ preferences so those who want to submit their ballots by mail must fill out a new request form, even if they’ve submitted requests in prior years. Do that here.
Early voting is planned for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4 at Oviedo City Hall, 400 Alexandria Blvd.
