Elections supervisor: Check your polling location, as 14 Seminole County voting locations closed since 2024

That includes 5 polling sites in Oviedo and Winter Springs, with three of those changes coming since the August primary election. ‘There needs to be better communication,’ one volunteer says.

If you’re planning on voting in Seminole County on election day, be sure to check your polling location online – your voter registration card may have the wrong site.

Three more polling locations have dropped out since the August primary election, bringing the total to 14 Seminole County polling locations that have closed since the 2024 election. That means even if you voted in-person during the August primary, your location could have changed.

Twelve of the 14 closures are churches which are no longer offering their locations as polling sites.

“Community partners make elections possible,” Seminole County Supervisor of Elections Amy Pennock said earlier when announcing other closures. “We’re grateful to every organization that opens its doors to serve voters. We also encourage churches, community centers, civic organizations and other facilities that may be interested in serving as future polling places to contact our office.”

The three precincts that have changed since the August primary election are precincts 39, 51 and 55. Voters have gotten new cards mailed to their houses with the updated locations, and there will be signs at the old locations during election day to direct them to the new sites.

“We want every voter to know exactly where to vote before Election Day,” Pennock said. “If you receive a new Voter Information Card, take a moment to review it and keep it for future elections.

Jan Conroy, a volunteer with the Seminole County Democratic Party, said volunteers did see voters show up to the wrong polling location during the primary. She’s worried that with the three new changes it could happen again.

She said she worries that people might not end up voting if they go to the wrong location.

“We’re lucky to get them,” Conroy said of voters participating. “Once they get to the wrong place, they may not come back.”

She said she came to Florida from Massachusetts, which used schools as voting sites.

“There needs to be better communication,” Conroy said. “All our goals are to have better communication. We can only do that when we share information.”
