Charlie Miles Murray, 82, a native of Marshallville, GA, died Friday, October 17, 2025.

He enlisted in the United States Navy in August 1963 and served 26 years of active-duty service in Communications, including the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Navy, he continued to serve others through the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, first as a 911 operator and later as a Civil Process Server. Whether answering emergencies or delivering a difficult court notice, he treated every person with respect and dignity. He also used his sharp mind to prepare taxes-often giving his friends and family a “family discount.

He was an active member of the New Covenant Baptist Church of Orlando, serving church ministries including the Music Ministry, Sunday School Ministry, Missions Ministry, Security Ministry, Music Ministry and Servant Leader for Districts 1 & 8. He will always be remembered as a thoughtful man who put others first, offering wise counsel and steady encouragement to anyone who crossed his path.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m., October 30, 2025 at New Covenant Baptist Church of Orlando with the Rev. Dr. Leroy Rose III, officiating. The interment was held at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla.

He was survived by his wife Geneva Murray of Oviedo, Fla.; son, Charles Murray, Jr.  of Oviedo FL, daughters Audra Turner of Deltona FL and Traci Jewell of Apopka Florida, 6 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and a host of cousins and extended family.

Arrangements were by Mitchell’s Funeral Home, 501 Fairvilla Road, Orlando, Fla.
