OVIEDO, Fla. – Geneva Fisher Murray, 78, a native of Vandemere, North Carolina, died Friday, March 27, 2026. Her career included over 20 years of managerial experience with educational and financial institutions in Hawaii and Heathrow Florida. She was an active member of the New Covenant Baptist Church of Orlando supporting several church ministries including the Music Ministry, Sunday School Ministry, Missions Ministry, Beautification Ministry and Servant Leader for Districts 1 and 8. Her love of traveling resulted from being married to a career Sailor in the United States Navy! She made sure wherever they lived (Virginia, Bermuda, Guam, Florida, California or Hawaii) it was home for her family. She enjoyed experiencing different people and cultures sharing the recipes she collected with family and friends. She was actively involved in the reelection campaign of President Barack Obama serving as the Neighborhood Team Leader in Oviedo. One of the highlights was meeting First Lady Michelle Obama and taking a picture with her. She shared her picture with everyone who visited the Murray home!

The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on April 2, 2026 at New Covenant Baptist Church of Orlando, FL. with the Rev. Dr. Leroy Rose III, Senior Pastor officiating. The interment will be at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Miles Murray of Oviedo, FL.; She is survived by her brothers, Dexter and Anthony Fisher of Philadelphia, PA., and sister, Anne Smith of Fayetteville, Ga.; son Charles Murray Jr. of Oviedo FL. and daughters, Audra Turner of Deltona, FL and Traci Jewell of Apopka, FL. and 6 beautiful grandchildren who called her Nana, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
