Oviedo Medical Center earns A for hospital safety and accolades for clinical outcomes
Oviedo Medical Center, part of HCA Florida Healthcare, is honored to announce several national recognitions that underscore the hospital’s commitment to high-quality patient care.
Oviedo Medical Center earned a grade of “A” this spring from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns letter grades to hospitals across the country based on more than 30 performance measures.

“Earning an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group for six consecutive cycles is a remarkable achievement and a testament to the unwavering commitment of our physicians, nurses and colleagues to delivering safe, high-quality care to every patient, every day,” said Cameron Howard, CEO of Oviedo Medical Center.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries.
“An ‘A’ Grade is a strong sign that Oviedo Medical Group is deeply committed to protecting patients from harm,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We commend the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers for the role each played in earning this distinction.”
Additionally, Oviedo Medical Center received the 2026 Patient Safety Excellence Award™ this spring from Healthgrades®, the No. 1 site Americans use to find a doctor or hospital. Healthgrades also recognized the hospital this year as a five-star recipient for exceptional clinical outcomes in several categories including treatment of hip fracture, total hip replacement and sepsis.

Casselberry Elementary Bamboo Bolt Fundraiser-100% of the funds raised go directly back to the school
Casselberry Elementary is a proud Title I School in Seminole County Public Schools, and we are preparing for our annual Fun Run fundraiser, the Bamboo Bolt! Last year, our students and families raised an incredible $28,000, and this year we are hoping to reach $30,000. The Bamboo Bolt is run entirely through community support and volunteers, meaning 100% of the funds raised go directly back to our school and classrooms.
To help make this event exciting and rewarding for our students, we are seeking donations of prizes, gift cards, experiences, tickets, merchandise, or other giveaways that can be used as incentives throughout the fundraiser. These donations help motivate students, increase participation, and create a fun experience for all.

Oviedo Student Chosen as Inaugural Dorothy L. Hukill Scholarship Winner
Oviedo native Brandon New, an undergraduate student at the University of Florida, is the first winner of the Dorothy L. Hukill Scholarship with The Fund for American Studies (TFAS). Brandon, a graduate of Oviedo High School, attended the TFAS program in Washington, D.C. this summer.
